Chance encounter

It was New year's Eve and had just about enough of leery guys but I was in a good mood after a great night out and also quite drunk. I was on my way home on the jubilee line (narrowly avoiding a puddle of sick) when a Pete Doherty lookalike started talking to me.
I told him who he reminded me of and he sounded a bit offended that I thought he looked like a junkie. I told him he looked like a better looking and healthier version which seemed to cheer him up a bit. He blamed the hat he was wearing entirely for the comparison. We then had a nice chat and he told me he was from Shepherd's Bush but originally from Australia. We discussed New Year's resolutions and the fact that neither of us needed to lose weight but actually gain some. We had a good laugh about stereotypical accents and then he said he was getting off at Finchley Road and we may never meet again. But he did offer me his phone if I wanted to give him my number, but I was so drunk I couldn't remember it (I have trouble remembering it at the best of times) and I'm sure he took that as I didn't want to give it to him. He graciously kissed my cheek, shook my hand and went. If that guy was you or someone you know, I'm sorry. I wasn't fobbing you off or lying, although normally I wouldn't hand out my number to a stranger but you seemed nice and it's unusual to meet a guy that's just being friendly as opposed to leering, especially on the tube on NYE at 4am!
